The Fruit and Vegetable
Prescription Program
The Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program expands access to fresh fruits and vegetables in Genesee County. Every child, from birth to 19 years old, and every prenatal patient, receives one $15 prescription for fresh produce at every eligible visit to a participating pediatric or prenatal clinic. Prescriptions can be filled at Flint Farmers’ Market or Flint Fresh, directly supporting local farmers, or at select Meijer grocery stores.

Flint Kids Cook
Flint Kids Cook is a cooking and nutrition program for children aged 8 to 18 years old. Classes are taught by a chef and registered dietitian at the Flint Farmers’ Market. In the six-week program, children actively participate in chopping, peeling, measuring, mixing, roasting, and sautéing fresh, healthy foods while learning about the importance of nutrition.
